A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 231 according to MMA Junkie as Phil Davis is going to be in action against Karl Albrektsson.
Davis (20-5-0-1NC) has won three of his last four under the Bellator MMA banner, with those wins coming over Leo Leite, Linton Vassell and Liam McGeary. Davis is a former Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating the aforementioned McGeary by unanimous decision in their first meeting at Bellator 163 to win the gold. Davis has competed twenty six times as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of those bouts went the distance.
Albrektsson (9-2-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Albrektsson won three of five when competing in Rizin, which includes a win over fellow Bellator fighter Vadim Nemkov. Albrektsson has competed eleven times as a professional MMA fighter and just three of those bouts went the distance.
Bellator 231 takes place on Friday, October 25 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Frank Mir and Roy Nelson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
