A light heavyweight division encounter could be coming to UFC 225 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as Rashad Evans is in action against Anthony Smith.
Evans (19-7-1) enters the contest riding a four fight losing streak and he hasn’t earned a victory in over four years. Evans also returns to the light heavyweight division for the first time since April of 2016, going winless during a two fight stint at middleweight. Evans is also a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Forrest Griffin by third round TKO at UFC 92 to win the gold.
Smith (28-13-0) is making his UFC Light Heavyweight Division debut in this bout, having previously fought in the middleweight division. Smith is also fighting a former UFC champion for the first time in his tenure with the promotion, which has now spanned six total fights. Smith is also making his UFC pay-per-view card debut in this encounter, having been with the promotion for two separate runs now.
UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
