Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey made her first MMA related public appearance in a long time at the UFC 205 weigh-ins, where she had a quick staredown with current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes.
As mentioned on this week's Fightful.com Podcast. The confrontation got to the former champion so much that she had to be consoled backstage, those who consoled her are unknown at this time.
“We got lots of reports from the back that she was very upset in the back, needing to be consoled and stuff like that,” Fight Networks Robin Black said.
A psychology professor from the University Of British Columbia, Dr. David Klonsky, was also asked about Rousey’s mental capabilities as well.
“There’s no guarantee that Ronda’s gonna be completely fine mentally,” Dr. Klonsky said. “If she has a good team around her, and unfortunately it’s not completely clear that that’s the case, there are ways to deal with this. There could even be smart ways where someone says ‘yeah, it makes sense that this is hard for you, being in the spotlight again after a really difficult loss.’”
Fightful.com managing editor Sean Ross Sapp was told by those close to the situation that it wasn't as bad as indicated, however.
UFC 207 takes place on Friday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey headlining.
