That win didn?t come without additional consequences for Namajunas, as Ariel Helwani of ESPN reported that a victorious Namajunas underwent nose surgery today to repair damage done in the bout at UFC 251. Namajunas suffered a nose injury in the third round of her rematch against Andrade, but the extent of the damage done to her nose wasn?t revealed publicly.
There is no word yet on how long Namajunas expects to be out of action for after getting the surgery, but more should become known as the surgically repaired nose heals up.
Namajunas has called for a bout against UFC Women?s Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili next, but no official plans have been revealed by the UFC or Weili at this time. Namajunas was medically suspended just 30 days by the UFC after UFC 251, so a title bout between her and Weili could become a possibility by the end of this year.
