A women’s flyweight division attraction has been announced for a June 20 UFC card as #5 Roxanne Modafferi faces #6 Lauren Murphy.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Modafferi (24-16-0) has rotated wins and losses in her second UFC run, with the latest bout being a unanimous decision win over Maycee Barber at UFC 246. Modafferi has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Title, losing to then champion Nicco Montano at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale. Modafferi has seen her last four fights go the distance and it has been almost two years since the fighter got a finish.
Murphy (12-4-0) comes into the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Andrea Lee and Mara Romero Borella. Murphy hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost two years, with that last loss coming to Sijara Eubanks at UFC Fight Night Utica. Murphy is going to be competing for the second time this year, which makes 2020 the first time she has fought more than once in a calendar year since 2016.
The yet to be announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, June 20 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
