Report: Sam Alvey Faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira At UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo

A light heavyweight division affair could be coming to UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo according to Raphael Marinho of Combate as #15 Sam Alvey faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Alvey (33-10-0-1NC) enters the contest on the strength of a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Marcin Prachnio and Gian Villante. Alvey had previously competed in the middleweight division while in the UFC, where he holds a victory over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Alvey had fought in the Maximum Fighting Championships promotion before coming to the UFC, but he picked up a win over UFC veteran Jay Silva while competing there.

Nogueira (22-8-0) is back in action for the first time in almost two years after being on the wrong side of a USADA drug test. Nogueira also hasn't picked up a victory in over two years, with that last win coming over Patrick Cummins at UFC 198. Nogueira has picked up a total of five wins thus far in the UFC, with two of them coming over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
