Report: Shakur Stevenson To Headline July Top Rank Card In Newark

After picking up a big win over former title challenger Christopher Diaz at Madison Square Garden, Shakur Stevenson is ready for a proper homecoming fight summer.

According to a report from ESPN's Dan Rafael, Stevenson will have his next fight take place in the main event of a Top Rank card taking place on July 13. The fight, which would be broadcast on an ESPN platform, would headline the card from the Prudential Center in Stevenson's hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

Stevenson, a former Olympic silver medalist from the 2016 Olympics, turned heads with a dominant performance against Diaz on April 20 as part of the pay-per-view card for Terence Crawford's WBO welterweight title defense against Amir Khan. Despite only having 11 fights as a pro, the unbeaten Stevenson has already emerged as a rising featherweight contender and is ranked in the top six of every major governing body at 126 pounds.

The 21-year-old Stevenson is also the current IBF Intercontinental and NABO featherweight champion. The report does not mention who would be Stevenson's opponent or even any names under consideration for the fight.

Rafael also reports that rising bantamweight contender Joshua Greer Jr. is expected to co-headline the fight card from Newark. Greer has won his last 17 fights, capturing the WBC Continental Americas title last December and retaining his belt with a knockout win over Giovanni Escaner back in February. The 24-year-old Greer is ranked in the top 15 on all four major governing bodies' rankings at 118 pounds.
