Report: Tony Ferguson Suffers Broken Orbital Bone At UFC 249

MMA

Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson suffered a fifth round TKO loss to new UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 249.

It appears that losing a title fight wasn’t the only thing that caused harm for Ferguson on Saturday Night, as the fighter also suffered a broken orbital bone at UFC 249.

Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports first reported the news, while also reporting that Ferguson was transported to a local hospital after the event.

There is no long yet on exactly how long Ferguson is expected to be out of action for, but this is just the latest in a string of injuries that have hampered the former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion’s professional MMA career. There has been no comment yet from Ferguson as to the status of the broken orbital bone or what is next in his professional MMA career.

Gaethje, who reportedly left UFC 249 with no serious injuries, is expected to move on from Ferguson and face UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title unification fight sometime this year.
