Sergio Pettis was in need of a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Mexico City after the withdrawal of Alex Perez and he now has one because Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA is reporting that Tyson Nam has accepted the short notice opportunity.
Pettis (17-5-0) is going to enter the bout while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Jussier Formiga and Rob Font. Pettis has competed at both flyweight and bantamweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 8-5-0 in the promotion. Pettis is the brother of former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis, who was last seen in action at UFC 241.
Nam (16-9-1) is going to be making his UFC debut in this encounter and is also returning to action after a year-plus absence. Nam previously competed under the World Series Of Fighting banner, dropping bouts to the duo of Marlon Moraes and Cody Bollinger. Nam is coming off of a three fight stint in the Fight Nights Global promotion, where he holds a victory over UFC veteran Ali Bagautinov.
UFC Fight Night Mexico City takes place on Saturday, September 21 from the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico with Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
