Report: UFC 232 Weigh-In Window Extended, Main Event Gets New Referee

MMA

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson will battle for the soon to be vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Title in the main event of UFC 232.

The event was recently moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Inglewood, California after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) wouldn’t let Jones fight in the state due to an abnormality with a drug test.

Due to the late change in location for the card, a change has been made to the weigh-ins by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) according to MMA Fighting. The weigh-ins will have an hour added onto them, making the weigh-in window for fighters a total of three hours instead of the traditional two hours. This was done so all the fighters who were affected by the change in location will have extra time for weight cutting and licensing procedures from the commission.

Also, a change has been made to the main event as Herb Dean will no longer officiate Jones versus Gustafsson due to injury according to Sherdog. Mike Beltran will now officiate the main event, which is scheduled for five five minute rounds.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
