Report: UFC 235 Preliminary Card Draws Big Rating

This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to the UFC 235, which featured Jon Jones successfully defending the light heavyweight title against Anthony Smith in the main event.

A four fight preliminary card aired live before the pay-per-view on ESPN, with Zabit Magomedsharipov defeating Jeremy Stephens by unanimous decision, has drawn a 1.0 rating according to MMA Fighting. It should be noted that the official viewership numbers won’t be released until sometime later today.

Other fights on that portion of the preliminary card saw Johnny Walker defeat Misha Cirkunov, Cody Stamman defeat Alejandro Perez and Diego Sanchez defeat Mickey Gall.

The UFC was the most searched term on Google on Saturday Night, with over 1,000,000 seatrches being conducted on the MMA promotion. There were a lot of individual fighter searches that did well on Google on the day after the event, with Jon Jones bringing in over 200,000 searches, Ben Askren topping 100,000 searches and Cody Garbrandt bringing in over 50,000 searches.

No official numbers on the TV ratings or pay-per-view buyrates are not revealed to the general public by the UFC as they are not a publicly traded company.

Up next for the UFC is UFC Fight Night Wichita, which will see the whole main and preliminary card stream live on ESPN+.
