Former UFC fighter Abel Trujillo was arrested on May 24 of this year in Broward County (Florida) and was extradited to Castle Rock (Colorado) last month on charges of felony sexual exploitation of a child and felony obscenity.
Aaron Bronsteter of TSN first reported the news, while also stating that Trujillo is being held on a $10,000 bond at a Douglas County (Colorado) jail.
According to court documents obtained by TSN, sexual exploitation of a child is defined by the state of Colorado as ?possessing, producing or distributing sexually explicit material (pornography) involving a child under 18" and/or someone who "possesses or controls any sexually exploitative material for any purpose.?
The obscenity charge against Trujillo states that ?a person commits wholesale promotion of obscenity to a minor if, knowing its content and character, such person wholesale promotes to a minor or possesses with intent to wholesale promote to a minor any obscene material.?
Trujillo, if convicted, could face a prison sentence or twelve to eighteen months, while the fighter could also face a potential fine of $1,000 to $100,000.
It has been almost two years since the last time that Trujillo fought, with that last bout being a unanimous decision loss to John Makdessi at UFC On Fox 26. Trujillo was expected to compete later this month at Battlefield FC 2 against UFC veteran Will Brooks, but he has been replaced by another UFC veteran in Gleison Tibau.
