Sad news to report out of Brazil as MMA Fighting is reporting that UFC veteran Rodrigo De Lima has been killed this past Sunday Night after a hit and run involving an Uber driver.
The former UFC star and friends were in an Uber vehicle when De Lima apparently had some kind of dispute with the driver. The driver would allegedly stop the car to continue the dispute with De Lima, who along with the friends, had exited the vehicle. The driver would reportedly leave the area, but would return and strike De Lima from behind with his vehicle, killing the former UFC fighter.
Police are still searching for the driver, who’s name has yet to be released to the media. The former UFC fighter was 26 years old, plus De Lima was married and was the father of two children.
De Lima went 0-2-0 under the UFC banner (9-3-1 overall), dropping bouts to the duo of Neil Magny and Efrain Escudero. De Lima last competed at the Shooto Brazil 85 card in June of 2018, defeating Luiz Fabiano by first round submission. De Lima was known for his submission based skills, having won seven of nine professional MMA fights by way of submission.
