Report: Vitaly Minakov & Ali Abdelaziz Being Sued By Fighter’s Former Management Team

MMA

Former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion Vitaly Minakov faces Cheick Kongo in the co-main event of Bellator 216.

This fight will mark Minakov?s first bout in the promotion in over four years, but a legal complication may overshadow the fighter?s Bellator return.

A report from Forbes is stating that RusFighters LLC., who is Minakov?s former management team, has filed a lawsuit against Minakov and agent Ali Abdelaziz for a breach of contract. There are ten other defendants that are being sued as well by RusFighters LLC., but they are listed as unnamed in the lawsuit.

MMA Junkie acquired a copy of the lawsuit filed against Minakov and Abdelaziz, which you can view by clicking here.

RusFighters claims that Abdelaziz interfered with their previous contract with Minakov, which was signed by the fighter on February 16 of 2016 and was supposed to last for three years or the expiration of any contract signed or modified during that period of time. The management team claims that Minakov violated his contract in August of last year when the fighter used Abdelaziz as the agent when he signed a new deal with Bellator MMA.

The complaint states that ?Abdelaziz intended to disrupt the performance of the Agreement or knew that disruption or performance was certain or substantially certain to occur.?

There has been no response to the lawsuit from either Abdelaziz and/or Minakov at this time.
