A heavyweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 225 according to MMA Junkie as Vitaly Minakov is going to be in action against Javy Ayala.
Minakov (21-1-0) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came against Cheick Kongo at Bellator 216. Minakov is a former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion, defeating Alexander Volkov to win the gold at Bellator 108. Minakov is currently in his second run with Bellator MMA, holding an overall record of 5-1-0 in the promotion.
Ayala (11-7-0) has won just one of his last three under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir at Bellator 212. Ayala has competed a total of ten times in Bellator MMA and just one of those bouts went the distance. Ayala has competed a total of eighteen times as a professional MMA fighter and just three of those encounters went to the judges scorecards.
Belator 225 takes place on Saturday, August 24 from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
