Round One - Canelo whiffs on an overhand left to start. GGG works the jab, Canelo rips a left hook to the body as GGG lands another jab. Canelo lands a jab of his own and lands a straight right to the body. Canelo with a straight left, GGG misses a left hook but lands a straight left. Canelo was slightly more active in a mostly feeling out opening frame. Fightful scores round one, 10-9 to Canelo.
Round Two - Canelo cracks GGG with an overhand left to open round number two as he did to start the fight. Canelo snaps GGG's head back with a straight left, GGG lands a jab and Canelo narrowly misses a right hook. Canelo rips a right hook to the body then lands one upstairs immediately after. Canelo throws a massive overhand right but GGG blocks most of the impact and whiffs on a right hook of his own at the horn to end the second round. Fightful scores round two, 10-9 to Canelo. 20-18, Canelo, after two.
Round Three - Canelo fires off a 1-2 then a right hook to the body to start. GGG jabs, Canelo jabs, Canelo cracks GGG with a right hook, then a straight left and GGG retreats as Canelo is starting to feel it. Canelo jabs then misses on a straight right as GGG continues to pepper the jab. GGG misses a straight left and Canelo lands a counter three-piece combination in response. Canelo lands a right hook, GGG jabs, Canelo with a straight left and a left hook to the body as a welt forms on the right side of GGG's forehead. GGG lands a straight right, Canelo counters with a straight left and the round comes to a close. Fightful scores round three, 10-9 to Canelo. 30-27, Canelo, after three.
Round Four - Canelo lands a jab to start. GGG works the jab, Canelo partially lands a left hook, GGG jabs twice, Canelo loads up and rips a right hook to the body and does it once more. Canelo cracks GGG with a 1-2, GGG snaps the jab then whiffs on a left hook. Canelo blasts GGG with a straight left, GGG lands a counter jab, then another but misses a left hook. GGG jabs, Canelo has a right hook blocked but rips a left hook to the body as the round ends. Fightful scores round four, 10-9 to Canelo. 40-36, Canelo, after four.
Round Five - Canelo rocks GGG with a left hook to the body to open. Canelo continues to work the body and cracks GGG with a right hook right on the GGG's ribcage. Canelo jabs, then lands a straight left to the mid-section. Canelo lands an overhand right, GGG jabs then misses a right hook. Canelo lands a jab, GGG jabs, and Canelo lands a straight right to the body. GGG continues with the jab and Canelo counters with a left hook. Canelo rips a right hook to the body, GGG looks hurt but he may have actually slipped instead. Canelo goes up top and lands a right hook. GGG jabs and the round comes to a close. Fightful scores round five, 10-9 to Canelo. 50-45, Canelo, after five.
Round Six - Canelo has a right hook land on GGG's shoulders to open round number six. Canelo rips a right hook to the body then jabs and lands a perfectly-timed straight left right across the bridge of GGG's nose. GGG lands a straight left, then jabs but eats a left hook to the body from Canelo. GGG continues to jab, Canelo does the same then lands a straight right to the body. GGG lands an uppercut in what is his clear best punch of the fight as we're halfway through the scheduled twelve, three-minute rounds for this one. Fightful scores round six, 10-9 to Canelo. 60-54, Canelo, after six.
Round Seven - Canelo with a straight left to start. GGG jabs, Canelo lands an uppercut then whiffs on a massive overhand right. Canelo finds a home for another uppercut then lands a straight right to the mid-section. Canelo jabs, GGG does the same and GGG lands a straight left to the body. Canelo rocks GGG with a right hook and follows it up with an uppercut and a left hook as GGG can't find the range on a straight left. GGG jabs, Canelo follows suit, GGG with an uppercut, and Canelo jabs once again. Canelo lands a straight left then a right hook as GGG retreats. The pair exchange a straight shots and the round comes to a close. Fightful scores round seven, 10-9 to Canelo. 70-63, Canelo, after seven.
Round Eight - GGG with a straight left to open round number eight. Canelo jabs then lands a left hook and an overhand right partially lands for Canelo. GGG jabs and lands a straight right before going back to the jab. Better start to this round for GGG. Canelo jabs and lands a straight right to the body but GGG rocks Canelo with a straight left. Canelo lands a left hook upstairs then a left hook to the body and a straight right to the mid-section. GGG jabs, Canelo lands a straight right to the body then rips a left hook right back to the body before drilling GGG with a left hook back up top. GGG pushes forward and lands a left hook but Canelo nails him with a right hook before landing a straight left to the body at the horn. Fightful scores round eight, 10-9 to Canelo. 80-72, Canelo, after eight.
Round Nine - Canelo cracks GGG with a left hook to start. GGG lands a 1-2, Canelo rips a right hook to the body and GGG clinches. Canelo cracks GGG with another left hook then a straight left to the mid-section. Canelo lands an uppercut then a left hook followed by a jab that snaps GGG's head back. GGG is warned for a behind the head shot after throwing a right hook but Canelo is OK and the fight is quickly resumed. Canelo lands a left hook but GGG rocks Canelo with a right hook and Canelo looks hurt. GGG lands a straight left, Canelo backs up but looks recovered. GGG with a left hook then a jab as Canelo backs up to the corner and GGG cracks Canelo with a left hook, then a straight left but Canelo rips a right hook to the body and a left hook upstairs. Canelo lands a right hook then a straight left to the body and the round comes to an end. Fightful scores round nine, 10-9 to GGG. 89-82, Canelo, after nine.
Round Ten - GGG jabs to start. Canelo with a left hook, GGG continues to jab and Canelo pushes forward and looks completely recovered. GGG snaps Canelo's head back with a straight left then jabs. Canelo lands a left hook, GGG does the same before whiffing on a left hook to the body. GGG continues to pepper the jab, Canelo with a right hook to the body and GGG lands an uppercut. GGG jabs, and jabs, and jabs once more. GGG lands a left hook, Canelo counters with a right hook but GGG lands yet another left hook. GGG continues the barrage, this time, with an uppercut, Canelo lands a straight right to the body and the round comes to a close. After the bell, it looks like both men look like they may have butt heads right before the end of the round. Fightful scores round ten, 10-9 to GGG. 98-92, Canelo, after ten.
Round Eleven - Canelo rips a left hook to the body to open round number eleven. Canelo with a 1-2 and his right eye is starting to leak a bit of blood, perhaps because of the possible headbutt from last round. Canelo lands an uppercut then a left hook as GGG jabs. GGG continues to jab and lands a straight left. Canelo lands a left hook, GGG jabs yet again, and lands another straight left. Canelo lands a straight left, GGG jabs then rips a left hook to the body. Canelo rips a right hook to the body, GGG jabs and the round comes to a close. Fightful scores round eleven, 10-9 to GGG. 107-102, Canelo, after eleven.
Round Twelve - Canelo jabs to start the final frame. It appears as if GGG needs a knockout to steal this one even though he's come alive over the past few rounds. GGG jabs, Canelo rips a right hook to the body, GGG lands a left hook, and Canelo does the same. GGG jabs, Canelo looks tired and clinches onto GGG, who rips a left hook to the body on the break. GGG unloads a wild combination in the final few seconds but to no avail and the horn sounds to end this one, that'll go to the judge's scorecards. The two champions embrace after 36 rounds against one another. Fightful scores round twelve, 10-9 to GGG and 116-112 to Canelo overall.
