Katie Taylor Beats Jennifer Han Via Shutout To Retain Her Titles

Once again, Katie Taylor proved why she is the undisputed lightweight champion against the American Jennifer Han.

In front of a rowdy crow in Leeds, England, Taylor beat the former featherweight champion in Han to retain her status as WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring Lightweight Champion. As far as what is next for Taylor, she is looking to face the best of the best before all is said and done.

Many, including Eddie Hearn, are hoping a match with Amanda Serrano will be back on the table. Another fight could be a rematch against Jessica McCaskill.

“I’m willing to fight anyone at any weight,” Taylor said after the fight. “I want the big fights."

At the start of the bell, Taylor was calculating with her shots. She landed early jabs and slipped inside to hit the body of Han. Han tried going for hooks, but Taylor was too quick. She landed inside shots and ended up hitting a few hooks. Hooks were landing for Han later in the fight, but her offense did not match up with Taylor's.

Han would land volume shots in an attempt to work past Taylor as rounds three and four began. Taylor, however, would land a left hook and a jab. She landed a big right and would just jab away at Han. By round five, Taylor was starting to pick up the pace. While she missed key shots, she landed a combination of jabs and rights.

By round seven, Taylor still had the speed to move past potential shots by Han. By round eight, Taylor landed a shot that put Han down. Han insisted she slipped, but it wouldn't have mattered in the long run.

Taylor would finish off the last few rounds with hooks and a big overhand right. The Leeds crowd went wild after the final bell rang, knowing the Irish fighter would walk out with a win.

The loss ends an eight-fight win streak for Han, who last fought in February 2020. Taylor has now gone five straight fights with a unanimous decision win.
