On the second day of the 2016 Summer Olympics from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the sport of boxing finally got a fight that did not go the distance. Some countries, like Argentina, did not have a good day today, not having a representative win in their opening round fights: Argentina went 0-2, Italy, Germany and Spain each went 0-1. Russia, who has had a tumultuous past few weeks with the drug scandal that almost prevented the entire delegation from competing, did not have a good day either, having only one boxer of three competing today win their fight. Today was also the first day for welterweights, with a whopping 8 fights taking place in the division.
