Ricardo Lamas is more and more confident about hanging up the gloves.
Lamas was last seen in action at UFC Vegas 8, defeating Bill Algeo by unanimous decision. As it turns out, UFC Vegas 8 was the last time fans will see Lamas compete in the Octagon, as the fighter announced his retirement during an appearance on Unlocking The Cage.
?I don?t want to leave with my face in the mud. I want to leave holding my head up high. The more I think about that last fight and everything that happened... the more I couldn't make a more perfect time to leave the sport and kind of leave my legacy where it's at,? Lamas said.
Lamas also hopes his post-fight comments at UFC Vegas 8 helps spark a revolution and end the ongoing dictatorship in his home country of Cuba.
The fighter retired with a professional MMA record of 20-8-0, with notable victories coming over Bart Palaszewski, James Krause, Cub Swanson, Hatsu Hioki, Eric Koch, Dennis Bermudez, Diego Sanchez, Charles Oliveira, Jason Knight and Darren Elkins. Lamas has previously challenged for the UFC featherweight championship, losing to then champion Jose Aldo at UFC 169.
