Richard Kiely Fined & MVP Under Review For Bellator Dublin Conduct

MMA

Michael ?Venom? Page and Richard Kiely met in the co-main event of Bellator Dublin, with MVP scoring a first round knockout win with a flying knee strike.

However, both in the lead up to and during the fight, both Kiely and MVP made things personal by taking various shots at each other.

Kiely would give MVP the middle finger and was issued a warning by referee Dan Miragliotta, but would also be fined $1,000 after the fight for flipping the bird. Outside of the $1,000 fine, no other punishment is expected to come Kiely?s way by Mike Mazzulli, who was regulating the event for Bellator MMA.

MVP could be facing different punishments for his conduct during the fight, as Mazzulli is currently reviewing what the victorious fighter did in the cage this past Friday. MVP was deducted a point by referee Miragliotta during the fight, but that punishment was non-existant in the end due to the first round finish.

?I will be reviewing the tape to determine further sanctions,? Mazzulli wrote in a text message to MMA Fighting.

Mazzulli is citing the Unified Rules Of MMA language for unsportsmanlike conduct for what MVP did wrong. With those rules stating that ?...(athletes are) expected to represent the sport in a positive light emphasizing sportsmanship and humility. Any athlete that disrespects the rules of the sport or attempts to inflict unnecessary harm on a competitor who has been either taken out of the competition by the referee or has tapped out of the competition shall be viewed as being unsportsmanlike.?

The punishment for MVP is expected to be announced by Tuesday, it is unknown at this time as to what kind of penalties the fighter could be facing.
