Two big results occurred here in the Olympics: Evgeny Tischenko is your heavyweight gold medalist after a controversial decision victory over Kazakhstan's Vassiliy Levit. Levit outboxed and outlanded the taller Tishchenko, but Tischenko gives Russia the gold.
As for the other big bbresult, it was in the women's lightweight where Mira Potkonen defeating Katie Taylor. Taylor won the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics and had been undefeated for five years, but she lost a couple of fights in the last four months, and wasn?t coming in on a hot streak. Potkonen gave her a hell of a battle, which was originally scored a draw, which then requires the judges to push a button for their choice to push through to the next round. Potkonen got enough to advance and guaranteed herself a medal.
