Rizin Throws Middle Finger To USADA And NAC, Book CroCop and Wanderlei Silva In Grand Prix

In the wake of Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones' United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) violations, RIZIN FF doesn't seem to care. The Japanese company will host a 16-man tournament that begins on September 25, and feature two major legends in the sports of mixed martial arts.

Both Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (31-11-2) and Wanderlei Silva (35-12-1) were released from the UFC and retired following drug violations. CroCop's was most recently a violation under USADA testing, and Silva's two years ago by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC).

Neither entity has jurisdiction in Japan, but some companies still follow the NAC's lead. Either way, RIZIN isn't interested in doing so, and the two PRIDE FC and UFC legends are set for the tournament. Dates for the Grand Prix include September 25, December 29 and December 31.

Filipovic admitted in November of 2015 that he'd used human growth hormone, and was handed down a two year suspension by USADA. Silva was originally suspended for life by the NAC in 2014 for evading a drug test, before having his $70,000 fine retracted and having his suspension reduced to three years.

Kazuyuki Fujita (15-11) is also set for the tournament, and will face Kaido "Baruto Kaito" Hoovelson (1-0) in the first round.
