Rosholt Surprised By UFC Release

MMA

Jared Rosholt was not the only person shocked by getting a UFC release earlier this year, but a lot of people in the MMA community were as well. Rosholt, who amassed a record of 6-2-0 in the promotion (14-3-0 overall) was cut by the UFC after a lackluster decision loss to Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 82, the bout served as the evenings co-main event.

In an interview with The Bloody Elbow, Rosholt stated…

“I came in there with good wrestling and good enough jiu-jitsu to stay out of stuff, but my striking wasn’t developing…”

He followed up on that point in the very same interview by stating…

“I was not taking much time off in between my training camps and fights. I never really took the time to learn a lot and try and find some different coaching as far as striking goes. I never really took the time to evolve.”

Rosholt also feels that he “rolled the dice” by engaging in a striking battle with Roy Nelson, instead of utilizing his world class ground game. Rosholt has recently signed a multi-fight contract with the World Series Of Fighting, which currently features Blagoi Ivanov as the promotions heavyweight champion, plus other notables like Shawn Jordan, Josh Copeland and Ashley Gooch call the WSOF heavyweight division home.

Rosholt is expected to be making his promotional debut by the end of the year, but an event and opponent for his debut have yet to be announced by the promotion.
