The Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix continues this weekend at Bellator 213, with Neiman Gracie battling Ed Ruth.

Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald is set to fight Jon Fitch for the title in an opening round bout, which Bellator MMA President Scott Coker says should happen in March.

“He’s healing up, but I think he’s starting to train now,” Coker told MMA Junkie. “But he will be fighting Jon Fitch sometime in March. We’re finalizing the location of that fight.”

MacDonald hasn’t fought since Bellator 206, where he suffered a defeat to Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi.

As far as the rest of the grand prix goes, expect the whole thing to be wrapped up by September of 2019.

“We’ll get into the semifinals in May and then June, and then September will be the finals,” Coker said. “So, that’s the timeframe for the tournament for the year.”

Former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima is the only fighter to advance in the grand prix so far, defeating former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Andrey Koreshkov to advance at Bellator 206. The promotion has just a single event set for March thus far, which is Bellator 220 on March 29.
