A second title bout has been added to CES MMA 51 as Nate Andrews is defending the lightweight championship against D’Juan Owens.
Andrews (13-1-0) is making the first defense of the championship, which he won by defeating Chris Padilla by second round submission at CES MMA 49. Andrews enters the contest on the strength of a seven fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost four years. Andrews has spent the majority of his professional MMA career competing in the CES MMA promotion, winning a total of twelve bouts in the organization.
Owens (15-11-1) is currently winless in the CES MMA promotion, having dropped a bout to Luis Felix at CES MMA 27. Owens is also returning to action for the first time in over a year, with his last bout coming in May of 2017. Owens has previously challenged for the Inka FC Lightweight Title, losing to then champion Alexandre Franca Nogueira at Inka FC 23.
CES MMA 51 takes place on Friday, August 3 from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island with Sean Soriano and Bruce Boyington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
