Sergey Lipinets To Fight In Opening Bout Of August 4 PBC On FOX Card

Former junior welterweight world champion Sergey Lipinets is ready to return to the ring, but this as a welterweight.

Lipinets, originally set to fight on the July 28 Staples Center boxing card, will now fight on the August 4 PBC on FOX card at Nassau Coliseum. Lipinets will fight Erick Bone in a 10-round welterweight bout and be the opening fight of the FOX portion of the card.

In his 13th professional fight, Lipinets suffered his first loss when he dropped a unanimous decision to Mikey Garcia in Lipinets’ first IBF junior welterweight title defense back in March. Lipinets won the title previously vacated by Terence Crawford late last year with a win over Akihiko Kondo.

Bone is currently on a four-fight win streak after suffering a four-fight losing streak from 2015 to 2017 when he faced off against notable names such as Shawn Porter and Chris Algieri. Bone previously held the South American 140-pound title and the WBA Fedebol welterweight title.

The FOX portion of the card will be headlined by a welterweight bout between former world champions Andre Berto and Devon Alexander. The co-main event will feature former middleweight champion Peter Quillin in a super middleweight bout.

Fox Sports 2 will broadcast several fights on the undercard with undefeated light heavyweight title contender Marcus Browne taking on Lenin Castillo. 2016 U.S. Olympian Antuanne Russell will also fight on the FS2 card with his brother Antonio potentially fighting on the FS2 portion of the card as a swing bout if time permits it.
