Sergio Pettis Talks About His Changed Mindset

MMA

Sergio Pettis came into UFC Fight Night 103 as the #15 ranked flyweight in the UFC, he would leave the event with a decision win over #8 John Moraga. When Pettis made it to the UFC a few years back, he was just happy to be in the promotion, but he's not settling now.

“I came into the UFC thinking like, ‘I’m in the UFC. I made it,'” Pettis said to MMA Junkie. “And now I’m in the UFC, and I want to be one of the best to do it.”

Pettis, after treading some rough waters in his early UFC fights, believes a change in his mindset has lead to recent success.

“It was definitely a mindset change. I feel like I’ve changed so much as an adult and as a person. You guys are seeing me grow, and it’s awesome I can look back and say, ‘I came pretty far. I came pretty far.’,” said Pettis.

Pettis is a former Resurrection Fighting Alliance Flyweight Champion, he is also the younger brother of former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis. Pettis has already competed as both a flyweight and a bantamweight in the UFC, mimicking his brother, who competed as a lightweight and as a featherweight in the UFC.
