Shohjahon Ergashev Ends Mykal Fox's Perfect Record On ShoBox Main Event

Shohjahon Ergashev got a statement win on his Showtime-televised main event fight against Mykal Fox.

In the main event of a ShoBox: The New Generation card from Kansas, Ergashev scored a unanimous decision win over Fox, ending Fox's undefeated start to his pro career. Ergashev won with scores of 96-94, 98-92 and 98-92.

The bout was awkward at first as Ergashev tried to find his range against Fox, who stood at nearly 6'4". Fox managed to use his height advantage over Ergashev to outbox him for a couple of rounds, but Ergashev scored decisive punches in the second half of the bout.

Ergashev landed a left hand in the sixth round that stunned Fox with just seconds remaining in the round. Ergashev drilled Fox with a left-right combination in the seventh round, but Fox would bounce back later in the fight by landing a quick right hand in the ninth round that stopped Ergashev's momentum. That alone would be enough to give Fox the win as Ergashev kept landing punches in the final round.

In the opening bout of the telecast, Thomas Patrick Ward improved his record to 26-0 with a dominant win over Jesse Angel Hernandez to win the vacant NABA-USA super bantamweight title. Ward won the bout by unanimous decision (100-89, 99-90, 98-90) thanks  in part to a fourth-round knockdown scored by Ward. The win moves Ward one step closer to a title shot as he is already ranked No. 4 by the WBO at 122 pounds heading into the fight.
