Matchroom Boxing and DAZN announced the signing of current WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai to a multi-fight deal. The news of Sor Rungvisai signing with Matchroom Boxing is not surprising as it had been reported that the Thai champion would likely be heading to the promotional company.

News of Sor Rungvisai's first fight under the new deal will be announced soon. As far as notable super flyweights Matchroom Boxing has on its roster, WBA champion Kal Yafai is also signed with the company.

"It’s my great honor to be working with Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN. I thank my team and everyone who made this opportunity possible. I am extremely excited for my future fights in the USA with Matchroom Boxing and DAZN, and I promise to bring excitements to all my fans always," Sor Rungvisai said in a press release.

Sor Rungvisai had a banner year in 2017 when he first scored an upset win over Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez to win the WBC title in March. Afterwards, Sor Rungvisai and Gonzalez had a rematch in September of that year and ended with Sor Rungvisai retaining his title with a knockout win on the first "SuperFly" card televised on HBO.

The 32-year-old Sor Rungvisai started 2018 with a win over Juan Francisco Estrada in a "Fight of the Year" candidate, one that the WBC wanted to see again. The WBC ordered a rematch between the two, but a sequel to their first encounter has yet to materialize. Sor Rungvisai last fought in October when he retained his title with a unanimous decision win over Iran Diaz.
