Stipe Miocic Would Prefer To Fight In A Bigger Octagon At UFC 252

UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic defends the title against former two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 252.

The third meeting between the two will happen in a 25 foot Octagon instead of a 30 foot Octagon and Miocic would prefer if the bout happened in the larger Octagon.

?A bigger cage is better of course,? Miocic said to Brett Okamoto of ESPN (via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). ?It is what it is. I?m not going to cry about it. I definitely tried to get a bigger cage, but it wasn?t in the cards. What are you gonna do? I?m not worried. My [gym?s] cage is the same size, and I?ve been working on everything.?

Most UFC events do use the larger Octagon, but venues like the UFC Apex have to use the smaller Octagon due to spacing restrictions.

Miocic also agree with Cormier and UFC President Dana White in that whomever wins the UFC 252 is the greatest heavyweight in UFC history.

?I mean, yeah I think so,? Miocic said. ?I definitely do. I think it?s a big fight. We have credentials, we?ve done a lot, and it?s a big fight. I guess so. I don?t know. Everyone?s been saying that (it will determine the greatest heavyweight ever), so whoever wins this fight is, apparently. I?m just ready for this fight. I?m not worried about what you call me after, baddest man on the planet, the greatest of all time, I don?t care right now. I?m just here to win.?

UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
