Strawweight Title Bout Headlines One Championship 80


The One Championship Strawweight Title is going to be defended in the main event of One Championship 80 as Yoshitaka Naito defends the gold against Joshua Pacio.

Naito (13-1-0) is defending the title for the first time in his second reign as champion, defeating Alex Silva to win the gold back via split decision at One Championship: Grit & Glory. Naito’s first reign as champion started at One Championship 43 in May of 2016, defeating Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke by fourth round submission. Naito is also a former Shooto Strawweight Champion, defeating Shinya Murofushi to claim the belt at Shooto: 7th Round 2014.

Pacio (12-2-0) enters the contest on the strength of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Roy Doliguez, Ming Qiang Lan and Pongsiri Mitsatit. Pacio has suffered two defeats as a professional MMA fighter and both of those losses have come by way of submission. Pacio has spent the last two plus years competing in One Championship, picking up a record of 6-2-0 in the organization.

One Championship 80 takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia with Yoshitaka Naito and Joshua Pacio headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on the One App.
