Teofimo Lopez Bashes Triller For Reoccurring Fight Scheduling Issues: "This Is Bad For The Sport"

Unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez is tired of the constant scheduling conflicts Triller continues to have with his upcoming title defense against George Kambosos Jr.

Lopez spoke with Morning Kombat's Brian Campbell and Luke Thomas to discuss the ongoing saga that Triller Fight Club has had in putting on his fight with Kambosos Jr. and thinks the antics are not good for the sport of boxing. The promotion is now apparently trying to reschedule the bout for a seventh or eighth time and move it once again from October 4 to October 16.

"I don't know man," Lopez said when asked what the latest update was on if the matchup with Kambosos Jr. is still on for October 4. "These people from Triller man, they've got something up they sleeve. This is bad for the sport, this is bad for the fans. This is the thing that's kind of frustrating, this is probably the fifth time that they're trying to move my date and my fight. This is something that is out of my hands really at this point. This is too many times that they've changed the date. This is something that I've never experienced in my career of boxing. I've always dealt with ESPN and the people from Top Rank. I understand that Triller is new into this platform, but this is not the way to do certain things, especially with an athlete like myself. My whole thing is staying focused. I've been in the gym, staying ready always and I feel great."

He also responded to the call for him to fight the likes of three-division world champion Gervonta Davis, WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor, and Ryan Garcia something Lopez says he's more than up for.

"I'm down for whatever," Lopez said. "I've always been the type to go for these guys. These guys always called out Lomachenko, but never stood up to the plate. That just showed me something in them that I know, and that is that they don't have 100 percent trust in themselves, they have doubt. And when they have doubt, that means they have fear. And when they have fear, that's when I go into that other mode. These guys are honestly f***ing up my sport. They talk all this and they do all this, but they don't f***ing push, they don't. Everybody's just talk. They talk it but they don't walk it. If you're going to talk and you're going to call me out, I better see a f***ing contract the next day. But these guys just call out and talk, and talk, and talk. They wanna use my name. They wanna use the clout because that's what they do, they all clout chase. They fake it till they make it and by the time they make it, they're so fake that they don't wanna take the fights."
