Tony Ferguson Says He Is Cleared To Fight Again

Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson hasn?t been seen in the Octagon since winning the gold at UFC 216.

The former champion was supposed to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the vacant UFC Lightweight Title in the main event of UFC 223, but an injury suffered before the event caused Ferguson to withdraw from the card.

Ferguson suffered a torn LCL on his left leg and after surgery followed by rehabilitation, is allowed to compete in the Octagon again.

It was through Instagram that the fighter revealed the news:

 

Although Ferguson has been cleared to return to action, no word has been given yet as to when he could step back into the Octagon.

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor are battling for the gold in the main event of UFC 229. Ferguson currently sits at #2 in the UFC Lightweight Division Rankings, meaning the next title shot could come his way.
