A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night 102 as Aljamain Sterling will take on Raphael Assuncao.

Sterling (12-1-0) will be competing for the first time since he suffered his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Bryan Caraway at UFC Fight Night 88. Prior to the loss, Sterling had a twelve fight undefeated streak that saw him earn notable wins over Sidemar Honorio, Takeya Mizugaki and Johnny Eduardo.

Assuncao (23-5-0) has won seven of his last eight under the UFC banner, but he is coming off of a loss to former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 200. Assuncao will be competing for only the second time in the last two years due to injury, he has not earned a win in over two years either.

Assuncao will be competing in his sixth “fight night” event for the UFC and the first in over two years, while Sterling will be competing in his fifth straight UFC Fight Night event, he has only competed on one UFC pay-per-view card since signing with the promotion in 2014.

UFC Fight Night 102 will be taking place on Friday, December 9th from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
