A women’s strawweight division fight is the latest addition to the UFC Fight Night 112 card as #9 Carla Esparza will be competing against #10 Maryna Moroz.
Esparza (11-4-0) has won just two of four fights under the UFC banner, defeating Rose Namajunas and Juliana Lima, while suffering defeats to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Randa Markos. Esparza is the first ever UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Rose Namajunas by submission to win the gold at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Esparza is a former Invicta Fight Championships Strawweight Champion, defeating fellow UFC fighter Bec Rawlings to win the gold in 2013.
Moroz (8-1-0) has won three of four fights in the UFC, with those victories coming over Joanne Calderwood, Cristina Stanciu and Danielle Taylor. Moroz has also earned five first round finishes in her pro MMA career, with just one of those coming in the UFC. Moroz will also be entering the fight on a two fight winning streak and she hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost two years.
UFC Fight Night 112 takes place on Sunday, June 25 from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with no main event announced at this time. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
