A light heavyweight division attraction is the latest addition to UFC Fight Night 109 as #8 Volkan Oezdemir will be in action against #15 Misha Cirkunov.
Oezdemir (13-1-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Ovince St. Preux by split decision at UFC Fight Night 104. Oezdemir also competed twice in Bellator MMA, defeating Josh Lanier and suffering a defeat to Kelly Anundson. Oezdemir will also be entering the fight on a three fight winning streak and that streak has lasted over two years time.
Cirkunov (13-2-0) is also undefeated thus far in UFC competition, with his victories coming over Daniel Jolly, Alex Nicholson, Ion Cutelaba and Nikita Krylov. Cirkunov hasn’t had a fight go the distance in over five years and that decision was a victory over Ali Mokad at Score Fight Series 3. Prior to signing with the UFC in 2015, the Latvia native defeated UFC veteran Rodney Wallace at Hard Knocks Fighting Championships 41 in January 2015. Cirkunov recently had a contractual spat with the UFC that was eventually resolved.
UFC Fight Night 109 takes place on Saturday, May 28 from the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden with Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
