Top 15 Women’s Strawweight Fight Set For UFC 218

A pair of top ranked female strawweight fighters will duke it out at UFC 218 as #9 Felice Herrig faces #12 Cortney Casey.

It was Herrig who first announced the bout via Instagram:

Herrig (13-6-0) enters the fight on the strength of a three fight winning streak, with those victories coming over Kalilin Curran, Alexa Grasso and Justine Kish. Herrig was also a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20, making it to the quarterfinals before losing to Randa Markos. Herrig also spent some time competing in Bellator MMA, where she defeated UFC veterans Heather Clark and Jessica Rakoczy.

Casey (7-4-0) has won three of her last four under the UFC banner, most notably defeating former World Series Of Fighting Women’s Strawweight Champion Jessica Aguilar at UFC 211. Casey also competed in the Pacific Xtreme Combat promotion, winning all three of her fights via a first round finish. Casey also won a total of six fights as an amateur MMA fighter, which includes a win over fellow UFC fighter Ashley Yoder.

UFC 218 takes place on Saturday, December 2 from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
