A female strawweight division affair has been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night Gdansk card as #2 ranked Karolina Kowalkiewicz is in action against Jodie Esquibel.

Kowalkiewicz (10-2-0) enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, dropping fights to Claudia Gadelha and UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Kowalkiewicz has challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to the aforementioned Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205. Kowalkiewicz also competed once in the Invicta Fighting Championships, defeating Mizuki Inoue at Invicta FC 9 in November 2014.
Esquibel (6-2-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this fight and she has won three of her last four heading into this bout. Esquibel also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23, losing to Ashley Yoder in the opening round of the reality show. Esquibel is a longtime veteran of the Invicta FC promotion, where she defeated Jinh Yu Frey, DeAnna Bennett and Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc.
