Cecilia Braekhus is arguably the greatest female boxer currently competing, but it's a challenge outside of the boxing world that she wants next.
Braekhus has started making waves in the mixed martial arts world by issuing a challenge to fight UFC fighter and current Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. However, the boxing star wants the fight to happen in a boxing ring and under boxing rules, not an MMA fight
Braekhus recently spoke with Boxing Scene about not only wanting to fight Cyborg, but to also box more in the United States.
"Two things I want to do next year - fight in the United States and fight Cris Cyborg. She's been talking loudly about fighting me in a boxing match and I'm all for it. And the United States is a place I've wanted to fight for many years and want to make that happen in 2017 as well” said Braekhus.
Cyborg has ventured outside of the MMA world on occasion as well, earning a 2-1-0 record as a muay thai fighter, primarily competing in the Lion Fights promotion. She has no professional or amateur boxing experience to speak of.
Braekhus nor Cyborg has any future fights announced at this point. Cyborg just defeated Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night 95, while Braekhus recently defeated Anne Sophie Mathis at an event in Norway this past weekend.
