Trainer Says Mayweather To Come Out Firing Against McGregor

Nate Jones has been working alongside Floyd Mayweather as he trains for his upcoming super fight against Conor McGregor.

The assistant trainer is stating that the game plan for Mayweather is to just come out firing against the Irishman.

“We’re going to fight him,” Jones said to the Los Angeles Times. “We know this is something new for him. So, Floyd’s going to turn the gas on early. We’re going to fight him. We don’t think he can go past four rounds. So we’ll burn the gas out of him (early), make it a tough fight for him, let him see some things he’s never … hit him with some good body shots. I don’t want to give the whole game plan, but we got some things different.”

Mayweather does enter the fight with a massive experience advantage in the boxing ring, as McGregor is making his professional boxing debut.

Jones also feels that the head movement of Mayweather is going to provide issues for the UFC Lightweight Champion.

“His head movement is going to confuse McGregor,” Jones said. “His relaxation is going to confuse him. Making him fight at a high rate early is going to surprise him. We’re not going to box him; we’re going to fight him.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
