The final episode of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 aired this past Wednesday and the finals of the featherweight bracket is also set as Jay Cucciniello faces Bard Katona.
Cucciniello (8-0-0) earned himself a spot in the finals by pulling out a victory over Tyler Diamond, as he was a replacement for the injured Ricky Steele. Cucciniello initially lost in the opening round of the reality show to Bryce Mitchell, but was given a second chance after the aforementioned Steele injury. Cucciniello has yet to see any of his professional MMA bouts go the distance and only one has gone into the third round.
Katona (6-0-0) punched his ticket to the reality show finals by picking up victories over the duo of Kyler Phillips and Bryce Mitchell. Katona is also a veteran of the Prestige FC promotion, getting some victories over Myles Anderson and Josh Rich. Katona also went undefeated as an amateur MMA fighter, with all three of those wins coming by way of submission.
UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale takes place on Friday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Brad Tavares and Israel Adesanya headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
