After overcoming tragedy several times during his professional career, another proved too much for Josh Samman, as the UFC fighter has reportedly passed away at the age of 28.
Ultimate Fighter castmate Gilbert Smith took to Instagram Wednesday morning to announce that Samman had passed away. Samman admittedly lived a 'roller coaster' life. In a 'UFC Ultimate Insider' clip, he opened up about the car accident death of his girlfriend, which he attributed to her texting him while driving. Josh Samman actually tried out for The Ultimate Fighter four times before eventually making it, including once that led to a leg injury and blood clot that almost cost him his leg.
Samman was found unresponsive Friday at a Florida apartment and rushed to the hospital, where he was in a coma for several days. Samman's roommate Troy Kirkingburg was also found dead at the apartment.
Samman's mother says that drugs weren't found in Samman's system, as speculated.
Samman was not only a fighter, but a musician, author, and also a fellow member of the media, writing for Bloody Elbow and UFC.com. Fightful.com extends our condolences to his friends, family and fans.
