Two Title Bouts Headlining CES MMA 49

A pair of title bouts will headline next months CES MMA 49 card as Nate Andrews faces Chris Padilla for the vacant lightweight title and Chris Curtis defends welterweight strap against Jason Norwood.

Andrews (12-1-0) enters the contest on a six fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost four years. Andrews has only seen one of his professional MMA bouts go the distance and that was a loss to Gemiyale Adkins at CES MMA 25.

Padilla (9-3-0) is making his CES MMA debut in this bout and is coming off of a loss to Gabriel Green at Bellator 192. Padilla started of his professional MMA career in the Xplode Fight Series, winning all six bouts in the promotion.

Curtis (17-5-0) is going to be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Will Santiago Jr at CES MMA 42. Curtis has suffered four of his five professional MMA defeats to UFC veterans, with those vets being Nah-Shon Burrell, Belal Muhammad, Forrest Petz and Tom Gallicchio.

Norwood (18-4-0) is also making his CES MMA debut in this bout and he does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Norwood was last seen in action at Fury FC 19, where he defeated UFC veteran Carlo Prater by unanimous decision.

CES MMA 49 takes place on Friday, April 6 from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island with Nate Andrews and Chris Padilla headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
