Two WBSS Cruiserweight Fights Set For November 10 In Chicago

The cruiserweights are coming to Chicago for an upcoming World Boxing Super Series card.

The card, announced for November 10 at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, will feature two fights in the cruiserweight tournament. The two fights are Mairis Briedis vs. Noel Mikaelian and Krzysztof Glowacki vs. Maksim Vlasov.

The 33-year-old Briedis returning for the second cruiserweight tournament created by the WBSS. In the first tournament, which concluded earlier this year, Briedis advanced all the way to the semifinals where he lost to eventual tournament winner and current undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. Briedis came into the tournament last year as the WBC champion.

Briedis will be facing off against a once-beaten fighter in Mikaelian, who has held the WBO International cruiserweight title from 2015-2016. Mikaelian has not fought since scoring a unanimous decision win over Isiah Thomas on the undercard of Usyk's WBSS quarterfinal win over Marco Huck.

Glowacki has won his last four fights since losing his WBO world title to Usyk in 2016, ending Glowacki's world title reign at 13 months. Glowacki has won both of his fights in 2018, both of which took place in his native country of Poland.

Since losing to current WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez in 2015, Vlasov has won his last 12 fights, 10 of which ended in stoppage or knockout. Vlasov, ranked No. 2 by the WBC and WBA and No. 1 by the WBO, won the WBC Silver cruiserweight title in his last fight in February when he defeated Olanrewaju Durodola.
