Any hope of Tyson Fury returning to the ring anytime soon had been dashed, thanks to the U.K. Anti-Doping Agency?s recent announcement that Fury?s hearing for a failed drug test has been postponed for the fall.
Fury?s boxing license is still suspended and will not be reinstated by the British Boxing Board of Control until his hearing has concluded. Fury was supposed to have his hearing starting this past week, but was then held off. The earliest Fury can hope to return to the ring would be the end of the year if all goes well for Fury in the October hearing.
"The BBBoC is awaiting the outcome of the UKAD hearing and at present his boxing licence is suspended until such time, after which the BBBoC will consider Mr. Fury's position further," a BBBofC statement read, according to PA Sport.
Fury was hoping to not only fight this year, but also fight current unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Fury had been training with current WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders in the hopes that Fury?s first fight would be on the undercard of Saunders? title defense against Avtandil Khurtsidze on July 8.
Fury's professional and personal life has been in a tailspin since his positive cocaine test, subsequent title vacancies and "retirement." Fury shocked the boxing world when he got a unanimous decision victory over Klitschko on November 28, 2015, ending the Ukrainian's 11-year undefeated streak where he was the sport's heavyweight king.
