Anthony Joshua's win over Wladimir Klitschko to become the unified world heavyweight champion has painted a target on his back with many boxers gunning for him, including Tyson Fury.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Fury said he wants to fight Joshua and wants the fight to happen at Wembley Stadium, the site of Joshua's historic knockout win over Klitschko on April 29.
"Eddie Hearn has already booked Wembley Stadium for next April," Fury said. "There isn't another stadium where it should take place. I would fight Joshua in October, but I believe Klitschko will take the rematch."
Fury also called out the current champion, saying that Joshua would be the easiest fight of his career.
"I always said Wladimir would be my easiest fight, now I'm changing the goal posts," he said. "AJ will be my easiest fight. I always knew what he was. I'll tell you what he is. He's a big man with a puncher's chance. That's it. He's got no footwork, no speed and no stamina neither. I will box rings round him. I'm not annoyed that AJ has been lifted up there by some people as the number one. They were saying before that he could beat me. It is what it is. I am the outlaw of this boxing game -- and I love it."
The former world heavyweight champion had not fought since late 2015, when he upset Klitschko to become the new unified world champion. A rematch never happened as both men had injuries that postponed the fight numerous times. The straw that broke the camel's back on the rematch not occurring was a failed drug test which forced Fury to be suspended indefinitely. Fury is currently in the process of appealing the suspension.
