After over a year out of the cage, UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley finally returned to the cage in the main event of UFC 228 against challenger Darren Till.
All of the speculation about Till's weight was for naught, as he actually showed up at 169 pounds -- 1 pound under the championship weight of 170. Woodley, bouncing back from a heavily delayed surgery, looked to defend his title after Colby Covington had won an interim version of it.
The first round saw virtually nothing happened, a stark contrast to the second. Woodley came out and immediately dropped Till with a huge punch, then followed Till to the ground with slicing elbows that opened up the challenger.
After significant ground and pound, the champion applied a brabo choke that led to a submission win after sustaining virtually no damage. You can see an excerpt of our live coverage below:
Round Two: The round begins with Woodley drops Till with a right and he pounces on him with a ton more strikes as he settles in the full guard. Woodley transitions to the full guard against Till while landing more strikes, Woodley goes back to attacking Till with ground and pound. Woodley locks Till in the d?arce choke and a tap out follows.
Official Result: Tyron Woodley def. #2 Darren Till by submission via d?arce choke (4:19, R2) to retain the title
Woodley didn't call anyone out after the fight, but did announce his first single is dropping next week, featuring Wiz Khalifa.
