Longtime UFC employee and longtime matchmaker for the promotion, Joe Silva, will be leaving the promotion at the end of the year.

With the 20-year company veteran leaving the UFC at the end of the year, the matchmaking duties will be split between Silva’s longtime partner in Sean Shelby and newly hired member of the UFC staff, Mick Maynard.

Shelby will now be the matchmaker for the women’s strawweight division, women’s bantamweight, men’s bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Maynard will now be the matchmaker for the flyweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions.

Since the UFC made this decision internally, the majority of the fighters under contract and their respective managers have been made aware of the changes.

MMA Fighting was the first to report the news. The changes for the matchmakers will be taking place officially in January 2017.
