UFC Cuts Augusto Mendes, Who Signs With ACB

MMA

Augusto Mendes is currently on the shelf while dealing with a potential violation from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

The Brazilian fighter has gotten released from the UFC according to a report from MMA Fighting and has promptly signed a multi-fight deal with the Absolute Championships Berkut (ACB) promotion. There is no word at this time as to when Mendes will make his promotional debut or whom that can come against.

It was through Instagram that ACB made the announcement about the signing:

Since USADA doesn’t have any authority in the ACB promotion, it means that Mendes can fight for the organization right away without no punishment. This is a similar move to what MMA legend Mirko Cro Cop has done, who has fought in Rizin MMA while under a USADA suspension.

Mendes went 1-2-0 under the UFC banner, defeating Frankie Saenz, while suffering defeats to the duo of Cody Garbrandt and Aljamain Sterling. Mendes hasn’t competed in over a year now, with his last bout taking place at UFC On Fox 24 in April of 2017.
