The UFC Heavyweight Title is set to be defended at UFC 211 as champion Stipe Miocic will put up the gold against former champion #4 Junior Dos Santos. Combate first reported the news two weeks ago.
Miocic (16-2-0) will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Alistair Overeem at UFC 203. Miocic has already defeated two former UFC Heavyweight Champions in the past, as he defeated Fabricio Werdum (whom who won the title from) and Andrei Arlovski. Miocic lost the first fight to Dos Santos over two years ago at UFC On Fox 13, he has won four straight fights since that first fight.
Dos Santos (18-4-0) has won just one of two fights since that first win over Miocic, defeating Ben Rothwell and suffering a defeat to Alistair Overeem. Dos Santos is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, he defeated Cain Velasquez at UFC On Fox 1 to win the gold. Dos Santos hasn’t put a winning streak together in over four years, his last winning streak lasted four years, from 2008 to 2012.
UFC 211 takes place on Saturday, May 13 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas with Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos headlining.
